The data has certainly saved time in GDOT’s ability to respond to requests for lane closures and detours submitted by the [project developer] by eliminating the need for extensive, time-consuming calculations to determine traffic volumes and speeds at various times of day. Time savings also always equate monetary savings.

The value of Streetlight was apparent to us very quickly when we used the Construction product to observe newer travel times, delays, speeds, congestion, and volumes impacted by recent development near a design project. The near real-time data confirmed what we thought the traffic movements would be and gave us further confidence in some of our road reconfiguration decisions. It is useful when data backs up your expectations.

The advantage of Streetlight over PeMS is its reliability. We no longer [have to] rely on the health of the road sensors or local street data to figure out where detour traffic is heading. Without StreetLight, we were often forced to make a judgment call without the most recent data.
